The ACIS lab is currently equipped with state-of-the-art computing, storage and networking facilities, and has a unique environment for experimental research and design of distributed systems that use virtualization software developed by commercial and open-source projects. In addition to upwards of 20 personal computers, the ACIS lab owns the following systems: • 10-CPU IBM eServer Cluster 1300: 8 dual Pentium III (Tualatin) 1.4GHz 2GB RAM nodes and 1 dual-processor management node (cluster 1

The following network connectivity is available to all ACIS computers: • Gbit connectivity to U. Florida’s backbone (connected to Abilene). • 100Mbit Ethernet (desktops), Gbit Ethernet (servers). • CyberGuard firewall and private network with VPN support. • 7 VLANs to isolate production, development, management, SAN, public and private networks.
The following Cisco networking equipment is available for research and teaching in networking: • Three 24 port, Catalyst® 2950-24 switches; Two 48 port, Catalyst® 3548 switches. • Two 8 port, Cisco Catalyst® 3508G Gigabit switches. • One 48 port, Catalyst® 2948G Gigabit switch and three 48 port, SRW-2048 Gigabit switches. • Three 2621XM routers w/ Cisco IOS® Software w/ firewall, IPSEC and 3DES encryption. • One Aeronet 350 Series Access Point. Also available are two 24 port, D-Link DGS-1224T Gigabit switches.
The ACIS resources are configured to be able to simultaneously support upwards of 1000 virtual machines running Linux, Windows and other operating systems. Software packages include: • Virtualization: Xen, VMware Workstation, Server, ESX, Player • CiscoWorks Small Network Management Solution (SNMS) (can monitor non-Cisco IT assets).
