AbstractSupporting real-time transmission in a cognitive radio network has been a hot research topic recently. However, most previous works only considered real-time packets in the network rather than a co-existence of real-time and non-realtime traffic. For the works considering non-realtime traffic, usually absolute priority is given to real-time packets that the QoS of non-realtime ones cannot be guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a dynamic spectrum allocation scheme based on earliest deadline first scheduling to preserve the QoS of both kinds of traffic in cellular cognitive radio networks. Simulation result demonstrates that the new algorithm has a similar throughput as the priority queue algorithm but achieves better balance in the average delay and deadline missing rate between the two types of packets.
