Michael Elliott Wins 1st Place Student Prize at TDWG 2023

Michael Elliott won the 1st Place Student Prize at the TDWG Conference (Biodiversity Information Standards) Oct 9 – 13, 2023 in Hobart, Australia. The talk was titled “Using ChatGPT with Confidence for Biodiversity-Related Information Tasks.” Michael is a PhD student in the ACIS lab under the supervision of Dr. José A. B. Fortes at the University of Florida. Michael’s talk focused on how users can mine ChatGPT for information that is not yet found in data aggregators like iDigBio and do so with high confidence in the correctness of that information. The award was presented to Michael during the closing session of the conference and was sponsored by Gaia Resources, an environmental technology group.
