iDigBio Portal Developer

A South Florida native, Richard fell in love with Gainesville after migrating to the area to attend the University of Florida. With degrees in programming and business Richard uses his people experience to identify needs and develop business processes that are enabled and enforced by software tools. Richard is an advocate for creating systems that simplify tasks through the development of intuitive software.

At the Advanced Computing and Information Systems Laboratory (ACIS) Richard works as the front end web developer for the iDigBio portal. Assisting research in many scientific fields the iDigBio portal provides easy access to over 60 million specimens and specimen records collected around the world.

Richard has created systems that meet medical, law and ISO compliance. These systems have a wide range of applications from recommending prescription drug doses, tracking millions of dollars in receivables, to ranking cheer leading performances.

In his free time Richard volunteers his time with Odyssey of the Mind an educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. He also spends his time on the board for several athletic groups (Florida Track Club and RMC).

His favorite movies are Prognosis Negative and Agent Zero
