AbstractCloud computing requires a complex networking subsystem in order to offer on-demand access to a pool of computing resources. Communication among resources (physical or virtual servers, storage, network, instruments, services, and applications) needs to be dynamically adapted to constantly changing cloud environments. This chapter looks into the available network infrastructure and technologies, the use of public and private networks in clouds, methods to simplify management of those networks to support data intensive applications, and employment of such methods in practical use cases.
