Michael Elliott won the 1st Place Student Prize at the TDWG Conference (Biodiversity Information Standards) Oct 9 – 13, 2023 in Hobart, Australia. The talk was titled “Using ChatGPT with Confidence for Biodiversity-Related Information Tasks.” Michael is a PhD student in the ACIS lab under the supervision of Dr. José A. B. Fortes at the University of Florida.

In two recently awarded grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Dr. Renato Figueiredo of the Advanced Computing and Information Systems (ACIS) Laboratory is applying edge computing, virtual networks, and open-source software to advance the state-of-the-art in the nascent field of ecological forecasting, specifically lake ecology forecasting.
